Every Blessing Comes from Him

Jun 23, 2025

Blessed are you, Israel!

    Who is like you,

a people saved by the Lord?

He is your shield and helper

    and your glorious sword.

Your enemies will cower before you,

and you will tread on their heights.

-Deuteronomy 33:29 NIV

In Deuteronomy 33, before Moses’ death, he blesses each of the tribes of Israel. It’s a beautiful chapter filled with promises, proclamations, and prophecies. This may be an obvious observation from the text, but it struck me in my recent time reflecting on this particular chapter that every blessing Moses gives comes from the Lord. Every blessing. Every single one.

In this life and into eternity, there is no true blessing that does not originate with God. As James 1:17 puts it, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” (NIV)

There is no blessing apart from the Lord. He saves. He redeems. He restores. He leads. He provides. He protects.

Every true blessing comes from God. And every promise made to us in scripture finds its “yes and amen” in Jesus. (2 Corinthians 1:20)

Today, may you take stock of the many wonderful ways in which the Lord has blessed you. There are too many to count, and certainly there are so many to recall. Thank God and praise your Father in Heaven for all He has given you.

And why not ask yourself— what am I really searching for at this point in my life? What is my soul longing for? What am I truly hoping for?  If you are looking to anyone or anything other than the Lord to provide, may you turn your trust back to Him. Trust Him with every ache and longing of your heart. He is good, and in His way and in His timing, He will continue to richly care for you.
